Bond denied for Tennis Maynard

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Accused murderer Tennis Maynard is back in the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville after a Monday afternoon court hearing in which bond was denied.

Maynard, of Delbarton, is charged with the April 3 shooting death of Mingo County Sheriff Eugene Crum. He’s been in jail since last month when he was released from Cabell Huntington Hospital.

Cabell County Circuit Judge Paul Farrell denied Maynard’s request for bond Monday.

Maynard, who was still carrying some medical equipment Monday from injuries he suffered after the shooting, is next scheduled to be in court August 15 for a status hearing. His trial is set for Oct. 21.
