Man drowns in Guyandotte River

LOGAN, W. Va. — A man is dead after he drowned in Logan County.

Dispatchers said the man, in his mid-50s, went under when he was swimming with a 12-year-old boy and a woman near the Water Street Bridge.

The boy was able to pull the man out of the Guyandotte River and onto the bank.

The victim, whose name was not immediately released, was rushed to Logan General Hospital where he later died.
