Body found in Cameron could be inmate

CAMERON, W.Va. — A body found in Cameron Monday night could be that of an inmate who escaped while on work release, police said.

Deputies in Marshall County said the body was found with clothes that matched the description of those worn by Derek Midcap when he was last seen last week.

On June 13, Midcap did not return to the Northern Regional Jail from work release.

The body has been sent to the state Medical Examiner’s Office to be identified.
