Towering tackle picks Mountaineers

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia, in search of offensive linemen for the 2014 recruiting class, landed the biggest prospect on its board Wednesday night.

Three-star offensive tackle Josh Krok of Niles, Ohio, committed to WVU on Wednesday.

Josh Krok, a 6-foot-8 tackle from McKinley (Ohio) High School, committed to West Virginia over Louisville and Cincinnati. After spending last weekend touring the campus, the Rivals three-star prospect phoned Mountaineers offensive line coach Ron Crook with the confirmation.

After being stuck on two commitments for the previous two months, WVU has picked up four pledges in the past 48 hours.

“Krok is a prospect that I saw in person at the Rivals Camp Series in Pittsburgh and was very impressed,” said Rivals writer Keenan Cummings of WVSports.com. “He’s a legitimate 6-foot-8 and, unlike many linemen his size, has no trouble bending his knees and using his leverage.

“He has great overall footwork and is very agile. Has long arms and uses them well.”

Krok became WVU’s second offensive line commitment, joining Morgantown High’s Amanii Brown. With the Mountaineers preparing to lose three seniors off next season’s two-deep — and with junior tackle Quinton Spain a candidate to enter the NFL draft — West Virginia likely will aim to sign up to three more offensive linemen.
