KEYSER, W.Va. — Charleston and Wheeling aren’t the only places where the state’s 150th birthday was celebrated Thursday.
More than 60 people joined in on the lawn of the Mineral County Courthouse in Keyser Thursday afternoon to pay tribute to the Mountain State.
The ceremony included several speakers including local student Logan Pfaff, Jennie Shaffer with the Mineral County Democratic Committee and Orrin Armentrout mayor of Carpendale who talked about what they loved most about West Virginia.
Mineral County Prosecutor Jay Courier dressed as Governor Pierpont read the proclamation of Statehood.
