Higher Education Policy Commission holding special meeting Tuesday

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The Higher Education Policy Commission (HEPC) is scheduled to address many items at Tuesday’s special meeting in Charleston. 

On the agenda, members will be voting on whether to approve tuition increase at multiple colleges and universities across West Virginia including Fairmont State University, West Virginia University and West Virginia State University.

The HEPC will also be voting on whether West Virginia State University will proceed with the New Student Housing Project that involves the construction of a new residence hall.

Commission staff will provide a brief presentation regarding budget and financing plans and institutional officials will be available to address any questions.

School officials would hope to have the project completed by the start of the Fall 2014 semester.

In addition, the HEPC will also vote on the
request of the Glenville State College Board of
Governors to enter into a Contract of Lease with the Glenville State College Foundation for a 2.74 acre tract of land along Mineral Road in Glenville and for Building A of the Waco Center.

The meeting will start at 1:30 p.m. at the HEPC office located on Kanawha Boulevard East in Charleston.
