The Bachelorette host taking in the Greenbrier Classic

WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — The Greenbrier Resort doesn’t just attract pro golfers to West Virginia, but people from all careers including the host of The Bachelorette.

Chris Harrison, host of the ABC reality television dating show, has ventured to West Virginia for the first time this week for the Greenbrier Classic.

He actually came out to take part in Wednesdays Pro Am Event where he tried his hand at the Old White TPC course, and according to him, he did pretty well.

“I played pretty good actually and it all depends on your pro and he was so relaxed and made sure everybody had a good time,” said Harrison, who was a guest on Thursdays MetroNews “Talkline” which is broadcasting from The Greenbrier Resort for the 2013 Greenbrier Classic.

That pro he was talking about was none other than Tommy Gainey, one of two golfers tied for the top of the leader board following Thursdays first round. Gainey and Johnson Wagner both shot a 62 to put them at eight under par.

Harrison said he has been wanting to come to West Virginia for a long time but was never able to until this week. He said West Virginia is like no other place.

“I feel like when I stepped onto the grounds of the Greenbrier I left time and space and I stepped back, and everything is so relaxed,” he said.

Harrison adds that everyone has been really nice and welcoming since he arrived. He has nothing but good things to say about what is going on in Greenbrier County.

“West Virginia and the Greenbrier, I can’t think of enough…Mr. Justice, who runs this and had the vision to create the Greenbrier and had the audacity to think that a PGA Tour event could work here. Hats off to him, it’s been a great week,” said Harrison.

The pros will take to the course once again on Friday for the second round of the Greenbrier Classic.
