OAKLAND, CA– Former Thundering Herd hurler Dan Straily was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Thursday and pitched the best game of his young Major League career. Straily allowed just one hit in seven innings as the A’s downed the Cubs 1-0.
“Even if I didn’t have my best stuff I was going to give it everything I had,” said Straily. “My slider was not as sharp as it’s been but it was good enough.”
The A’s recalled Straily to give a sore Jarrod Parker an two extra days of rest. Strailey struck out six batters and surrender three walks in his best start in the majors.
Straily has bounced between the Majors and Triple-A throughout the season. He’s 5-2 with the A’s with a 4.52 ERA.
If Straily stays with the big club, he could make a start in Pittsburgh next week.
