Hoskins On Mackey Award Watch List

NEW YORK, NY– Senior tight end Gator Hoskins has been named to the 2013 John Mackey Award preseason watch list.  The award is given each year to the country’s top tight end.

Hoskins set a single-season Marshall record for tight ends in 2012, snagging ten touchdown passes, which led all tight ends in the country.  He was also second in Conference USA in touchdown receptions.  Only East Carolina’s Justin Hardy had more with 11 scoring catches. Overall, Hoskins caught 35 passes for 374 yards a year ago.

Hoskins was one of 37 players named to the preseason watch list on Tuesday.  On Monday, quarterback Rakeem Cato was named to the Maxwell Award preseason watch list.

Semifinalist will be announced on Nov. 18 and the finalist will be named on Nov. 25.  The 2013 Mackey Award winner will be introduced on Dec. 12 as part of the Home Depot College Football Awards Show on ESPNU.
