Train derailment in Summers County

SANDSTONE, W.Va. — A CSX train derailed Monday afternoon in Summers County.

A CSX spokesman said 20 cars of a 100 freight car train jumped the tracks near Sandstone at around 3:15 p.m. Ten of the derailed cars were on their sides and the other 10 upright.

The two-engine train was headed from Hinton to Newport News, Virginia.

CSX said there were no injuries reported and no immediate impacts to the public.

A company clean-up crew was dispatched to the scene.
