LOONEYVILLE, W.Va. — Roane County deputies say a Clay County man driving under the influence crashed into a home, killing one of its occupants Thursday morning.

Chaz Simmons of Clay was taken into custody, charged with DUI causing death and DUI causing injury after deputies said his pickup truck crashed into a home along state Route 36.

Relatives identified the victim as Kelly Casto, 30, who became pinned beneath the truck and killed instantly when the vehicle struck the house.

Her boyfriend, 38-year-old William Cottrell, suffered multiple injuries and was listed in serious condition at the Charleston Area Medical Center. Family members said Cottrell suffered a severe back injury, broken hip and bruised lungs.

Was he being Gangstalked by the Stasi government? Why was he a DUI Suspect, what is that? What does that mean, exactly?

answer; its a money racket- I work as a counselor and the State gets about ten thousand dollars for every dui- in addition there are at least 2 bars on every street in morgantown and they still warn don't dring and drive. if they wanted to prevent these kind of things they need to curb these establishments from selling it let alone selling in at mountaineer field. I got sick of seeing a beer bottle every time I raised up in the crowd of fans to cheer...............sad

Get off your high horse people. This was one individual and now you want to castrate all people that drink alcohol.. Get a real purpose, go to a foreign country and help out the really unfortunate .

  • IRON HORSE

OUR COUNTY IN WV HAS SO MANY DUI & DEATHS BECAUSE OF ALCOHOL & YET MORE BARS & PLACES OPEN TO SELL EVEN MORE OF THE FILTY EVIL STUFF!!! I SAY THAT THE STATE NEEDS TO MAKE BIG CHANGES ON ALCOHOL SALES.
JUST SET AT SHEETZ & 9 OUT OF 10 THAT COME OUT ARE CARRING BIG CASES OF THE BEER!! TO GUZZEL & DRIVE & BEAT THEIR WIVES & CHEAT THEIR CHILDREN OUT OF THEIR NEEDS. THERE IS NOTHING GOOD ABOUT ALCOHOL AT ALL!!!!

Amazing, where is the outcry by the public to outlaw alcohol or further the consequecnes for its abuse? Alcohol kills more people than guns every day in tis country. But yet it is socially acceptable and goes without any public condemnation. Yes I agree, prohibition is not the answer as many drink responsibly. Not looking for a gun debate here. But alcohol related deaths a seeem to go unnoticed and while high dollar lawyers continue to defend these type criminals which results in please bargains and dismissals.

I'll go one better, I can go to the local bar and drink all I want, yet I can't smoke a cigarette in the bar because it's "unhealthy".

Is this Bill Cottrell from Morgantown?

  • Amanda

what jail is he in? I can't find it NOWHERE.

    • WVIRGINIAN FOR LIFE

He should be in the Central Regional Jail which serves Roane County. But he is not on the list.
