DUI suspect crashes into house, killing occupant

LOONEYVILLE, W.Va. — Roane County deputies say a Clay County man driving under the influence crashed into a home, killing one of its occupants Thursday morning.

Chaz Simmons of Clay was taken into custody, charged with DUI causing death and DUI causing injury after deputies said his pickup truck crashed into a home along state Route 36.

Relatives identified the victim as Kelly Casto, 30, who became pinned beneath the truck and killed instantly when the vehicle struck the house.

Her boyfriend, 38-year-old William Cottrell, suffered multiple injuries and was listed in serious condition at the Charleston Area Medical Center. Family members said Cottrell suffered a severe back injury, broken hip and bruised lungs.
