Fire destroys ride at Camden Park

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – One of the rides at Camden Park went up in flames early Sunday morning. The Ceredo Fire Department got the call around 2:30 a.m. When they arrived the Dodge ‘Em cars were ablaze.

The fire threatened three other structures but there was only minor damage to the bathrooms nearby.

Investigators believe a storm that rolled through Huntington overnight caused an electrical surge that sparked the blaze.

The park staff plans to use Sunday and Monday to clean up and reopen for business on Tuesday.
