Ritchie man jailed after father’s shooting death

PENNSBORO, W.Va. — One man is dead and his son faces a murder charge in Ritchie County. State Police say Michael Ogle Jr., 51, was shot dead by his son Steven Fisher, 22, at the home they shared in Pennsboro Sunday afternoon.

“It was a verbal domestic altercation between a father and his son,” said Senior Trooper C-T Speece. “The father threatened to cause the son harm, the son went upstairs and got a revolver, came back downstairs, and shot the father.”

Troopers say they found Ogle dead beside the front door of the home in a pool of blood. Fisher was nearby.

“He was at the house next door sitting on the curb,” said Speece.

Fisher confessed to shooting his father when questioned by troopers. He’s jailed on a charge of first degree murder.

Speece said police had never been called to the home before, but Fisher indicated there was a history of trouble between the two. They lived together at the residence with Fisher’s mother and a juvenile.

Speece said no alcohol or drugs were found at the home.
