MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A Morgantown doctor and former member of the WVU Board of Governors is dead. Dr. Tom Clark was 71.
Clark’s term on the WVU BOG ran out earlier this year bringing to a close years he spent in public service. His career included time on the Monongalia County Board of Education and West Virginia Board of Medicine.
Clark was also a retired vice president for Mylan Pharmaceuticals.
Clark’s career also included its share of controversy. The state Board of Medicine attempted to revoke his license in 1994 over the use of painkillers but he fought it and ended up with a six-month suspension and community service.
WVU spokesperson Becky Lofstead responded to Clark’s death Thursday evening.
“That’s very sad news. The University extends its heartfelt condolences to Mr. Clark’s family and friends,” Lofstead said.
