Man killed by train in Martinsburg

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Eyewitnesses told investigators Friday night a man hit and killed by a train in Martinsburg was wearing earbuds.

Police say the man probably didn’t hear the train. It was actually backing up in an area nearĀ a housing development and close to the State Police detachment in Martinsburg.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators initially said they were having a difficult time identifying the victim.

The deadly collision happened at 6:45 p.m. Friday.
