Clarksburg residents remember murder victims

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — A weather-protected handwritten note placed at a Clarksburg murder scene Saturday made a promise.”We will get justice for you and Punky.”

The note and flowers are along Locust Ave. where four men were shot and killed Friday, two of them longtime paper deliverers for the Clarksburg Exponent-Telegram.

The note was for Freddy and Fred Swiger the father-son team that was shot and killed while on their route Friday morning. It brought them right by the house where police say Sidney Muller, 27, was demanding payment of a $10,000 drug debt. Muller’s been charged with four counts of murder after allegedly taking the lives of Christopher Hart, 26, and Todd Amos, 29,inside the house and then the Swigers as they passed by afterward. Authorities have called them innocent bystanders.

Freddy, 70, and Fred (aka Punky), 47, had more than 30 years of newspaper deliveries under their belts.

“We love you Uncle Freddy and cousin Punky you will be sadly missed,” the note read.

Muller remains in the North Central Regional Jail without bail.
