Senate President Kessler fills vacant committee chairman seats

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Senate President Jeff Kessler (D-Marshall) announced Friday his appointments to fill recently vacant committee  chair seats.

In the Pensions Committee, Kessler has appointed Senator Art Kirkendoll (D-Logan) as chairman. Additionally, he will also serve as Chairman of the Joint Standing Committee on Pensions and Retirement.

Senator Ron Miller (D-Greenbrier) was chosen to be Chairman of the Select Committee on Minority Issues. Senator Mike Green (D-Raleigh) is appointed Chairman of Interim Subcommittee B of the Government Organization Committee. The Chairman of Interim Subcommittee A of the Health and Human Resources Committee is Senator Greg Tucker (D-Nicholas).

Senate Majority Whip Bill Laird (D-Fayette) is now the Vice Chairman of the Health and Human Resources Committee. He also will serve as the Vice Chairman of the Legislative Oversight Commission on Health and Human Resources Accountability.

All of Kessler’s appointments are effective immediately.
