State Department of Highways making changes along Route 10

DABNEY, W.Va. — The West Virginia Division of Highways is making some adjustments along Route 10 to ensure quicker response times for emergency services.

During a community meeting Tuesday night regarding concerns surrounding the closure of WV 10 between Dabney and Man, the public made it clear to WVDOH officials that changes needed to be made to allow for quicker response times.

In response to those concerns, beginning Monday a law enforcement vehicle will be placed at each end of the work site. The Logan County 911 Center will contact these authorities to open a portion of the roadway only if a medical helicopter is unable to fly.

The Logan Sheriff’s Department, Man Police Department, and Chapmanville Police Department will assist with this detail.

In addition Bizzack Construction will have an additional end loader at the site to help clear the roadway quickly if an emergency vehicle needs to get through. This will only happen after the work site has been deemed safe.

The WVDOH also plans to make upgrades to the detour route along County Routes 14 and 16. West Virginia Paving is currently working to pave several sections of the route. Crews will also be installing 68 additional roadway signs to assist motorists taking the detour route. New guardrail is also being installed as well.
