MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Testimony will resume Tuesday in the first of two trials involving Maryland men charged with killing a Falling Waters woman during a 2011 home robbery.
On Friday in Berkeley County Circuit Court, the jury heard from Jack Clem, who was home the night his wife Vickie Clem, 57, was beaten to death with a baseball bat.
Roy Wisotzkey, 35, of Hagerstown, Md., and the woman’s son, Joshua Stitley, 34, of Hancock, Md., allegedly attacked them.
Clem said he woke in the night to find Stitley and Wisotzkey in the couple’s home.
Clem testified he was hit in the head with a baseball bat and stabbed in the groin before listening as his wife was beaten to death while begging for her life. An autopsy showed the woman also had been stabbed twice.
Clem testified that he barricaded himself in the bathroom, and the next morning, upon regaining consciousness, he said he found Stitley and Wisotzkey asleep. That was when Clem ran to a neighbor’s home to call 911.
Wistozkey is facing a list of charges including murder and burglary.
Stitley is scheduled to go to trial on similar charges Oct. 22.
