Rear-end crash claims three lives in Nicholas County

MOUNT LOOKOUT, W.Va. — Three Webster County residents were killed Tuesday afternoon in a rear-end collision that took place in Nicholas County on U.S. Route 19.

Nicholas County Sheriff’s Dept. deputies said Donnie Greene, 58, Sherry Greene, 41, and Jonathan Bibb, 18, all of Cowen, died as a result of injuries suffered when Donnie Greene went off the highway Tuesday afternoon near Mount Lookout and struck a tractor trailer that was parked along the highway because of mechanical problems.

Deputies said the Greenes died at the scene and Bibb later died at Charleston Area Medical Center.

A four-month old child riding in the vehicle survived the crash.

The crash occurred at just before 2:30 Tuesday afternoon.
