Man wanted for questioning in NYC murder apprehended in Kanawha County

PINCH, W.Va. —  An illegal immigrant wanted for questioning in a New York City murder was arrested Tuesday morning in Kanawha County.

Deputy U.S. Marshals and other members of the CUFFED Task Force showed up at Fiesta Farms, a horse boarding stable in Pinch, and arrested Mario Flores-Contreras, Federal agents told MetroNews Flores-Contreras, 24, who was going by the name Alberto Mareo, had worked at the farm for six to eight months and was illegally in the United States from Honduras.

“He had several fake I-Ds on him and he had been able to get hired under false pretenses,” said Supervisory Deputy U.S. Marshal Jeremy Honaker.  “Nobody could have realized he was here illegally.”

The owner of the farm will not be charged.

Deputy Marshals said Flores-Contreras even went further to try and hide his identity when he covered a neck tattoo with another tattoo.

Flores-Contreras is tied to the Latin Kings street gang and was known to be a past “enforcer” for the gang.

Agents from the New York City Police Department, INS, Homeland Security, and the New York/New Jersey Fugitive Task Force were also involved in Tuesday’s arrest.

Flores-Contreras gave up peacefully and is now in the custody of the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service. He is being housed in the South Central Regional Jail in Charleston.
