90-day waiting period for CHIP plan enrollment dropped

Children enrolling in the Children’s Health Insurance Program no longer are required to be uninsured for 90 days prior to enrollment.

The West Virginia Children’s Health Insurance Program Board approved to eliminate the 90-day waiting period for children Wednesday.

The decision comes after the WVCHIP Board extensively researched the issue for the past month. The research indicated that this change did not pose any potential issues.

The change will go into effect on October 1.
