Putnam brothers had history of violence

SCOTT DEPOT, W.Va. — Sheriffs deputies said two Putnam County brothers had frequent disputes preceding an altercation that led to a stabbing death early Wednesday morning.

Deputies were called to a home on Thomas Drive about 1 a.m, where they found Michael Facemyer, 36, on the front porch suffering from multiple stab wounds. He died a short time later at CAMC Teays Valley.

Jonathan Facemyer of Scott Depot, W.Va., is charged with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of his brother.

The victim’s brother, Jonathan Facemyer, 25, was arrested a short time later and charged with first-degree murder.

“We’ve been over there numerous times in the last 10 years for these two,” said Putnam County Sheriff Steve Deweese. “Apparently they were arguing on the front porch, and one brother went back in and picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed the other brother.”

Jonathan Facemyer caught a ride with a friend and left the scene of the stabbing. He was spotted by Hurricane police around 4 a.m. walking near a Sheetz convenience store and was taken into custody in the store’s parking lot.

Deweese said the dying victim told their sister what happened.

“He basically just said the brother had stabbed him and if he would not shut up, he would continue to stab him,” Deweese said. “Something of that nature.”

Jonathan Facemyer is lodged in the Western Regional Jail in Barboursville.
