Arrest made in connection with human remains discovery in Summersville

SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. — A Nicholas County woman is in jail facing charges in connection with the disappearance of two Alabama women more than a decade ago.

Prosecutors in Nicholas County said they plan to charge Wanda Faye Kiser, 61, with two counts of illegally disposing of a dead body once she is released from the hospital.

Nicholas County resident Wanda Faye Kiser facing charges in connection with disappearance of two Alabama women.

Police in Nicholas County issued warrants for Kiser hours after skeletal remains were found in a storage unit in Summersville on Wednesday. When police went to arrest her, they realized she had taken several pills before they arrived.

Prosecutors said she will be charged once she is released. No additional charges related to the bodies will be filed against Kiser in Nicholas County.

Kiser was charged last month by authorities in Alabama with 17 counts of forgery. She allegedly cashed checks that belonged to Mary Cobb, 105, and Wynona Delvecchio, 84, who hadn’t been seen or heard from since 2002.

Kiser is fighting extradition to Alabama on the forgery charges, and the governor of Alabama has asked Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin for assistance.

The remains were taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Charleston for identification.
