Hearing Tuesday for accused sheriff killer

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The Delbarton man who is charged with killing Mingo County Sheriff Eugene Crum in April will be back in Cabell County Circuit Judge Paul Farrell’s courtroom on Tuesday afternoon.

A motions hearing is scheduled for Tennis Maynard, 37, who is still scheduled to go to trial on charges of first degree murder, attempted murder and felony fleeing a police officer on October 21.

Maynard is being held in the West Regional Jail in Barboursville.

He allegedly shot Crum, 59, while he was eating his lunch near the Mingo County Courthouse in Williamson on April 3 and was shot seven times while trying to flee.
