Victim identified in Morgantown wreck

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Police are investigating the death of a pedestrian killed on South High Street on Monday night, the first day of the fall semester at West Virginia University.

Officers said a delivery driver heading north on South High Street at about 8:45 p.m. struck and killed James Robert McClain, 79, of Morgantown, who was crossing the street at the Simpson Street intersection.

No charges had been filed as of Tuesday against the driver, who was not being publicly identified.

Morgantown police asked anyone with information about the accident to call the department at 304-284-7522.
