New trial date set for accused Mingo County killer

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The murder trial of the Mingo County man who is accused of shooting and killing Mingo County Sheriff Eugene Crum while he ate his lunch back in April is scheduled to start in December in Mingo County.

Tennis Maynard, 37, of Delbarton, was back in front of Cabell County Circuit Judge Paul Farrell on Tuesday.  He is charged with first degree murder, attempted murder and felony fleeing a police officer.

Crum, 59, was killed on April 3 as he sat in his parked vehicle near the Mingo County Courthouse in Williamson.

Maynard’s trial will begin with jury selection on December 9.

He is currently being held in the Western Regional Jail in Cabell County.
