Child dies after Interstate 77 wreck

KENNA, W.Va. — A toddler critically injured in a Tuesday afternoon accident on Interstate 77 in Jackson County has died.

Jackson County officials said the young boy was thrown out of a pickup truck that flipped near Kenna.  The boy’s parents, who were in the vehicle, were still hospitalized Wednesday for injuries they sustained.

There were reports the child was in a car seat, but investigators said it may not have been properly installed.

The accident shut down part of I-77 north for a time on Tuesday.
