PITTSBURGH, Pa. – A Marshall County man accused of stabbing to death his ex-wife in 1999 in her suburban Pittsburgh home will finally stand trial.
John Minch, 45, of Cameron, is scheduled to go to trial Monday before Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge in Pittsburgh for the murder of Melissa Groot, 29, of Bethel Park.
Minch was arrested in April 2009 after police said they found a hair at the crime scene that could match his DNA. The hair had been in storage for years before it was tested. Before the hair, police said they didn’t have enough evidence to charge Minch in Groot’s death.
Groot’s body was found by her second husband, David Groot, on May 6, 1999.
Minch claims he has been framed in Groot’s murder.
