HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Games against Big Ten and SEC opponents Penn State, South Carolina and Vanderbilt highlight the Thundering Herd’s 2013-14 basketball schedule, which also includes the yearly matchup against West Virginia at the Charleston Civic Center.
The preseason features an exhibition against Concord University on Oct. 28 before Marshall opens the season Nov. 8 at the Cam Henderson Center against South Carolina State. The Herd will matchup with Morehead State for the 95th time on Nov. 17.
“We’ve obviously challenged ourselves greatly, playing against seven teams that played in the NCAA tournament or NIT a year ago,” said Herrion.
The nonconference schedule includes trips Vanderbilt, South Carolina and Penn State with the Gamecocks and Nittany Lions coming back to Huntington in the 2014-15 season.
“We want to have a national schedule and play the best teams we can play,” said Herrion. “We’ve worked tireless to put together the best schedule each year.”
