Charged attorney to get mental evaluation

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Kanawha County judge has approved a psychiatric evaluation for Charleston attorney Mark Bramble.

Mark Bramble

Bramble, 49, is charged with attempted murder and wanton endangerment following a standoff with police earlier this month at his house in South Hills.

Circuit Judge Carrie Webster signed an order Friday sending Bramble to the Mitchell-Bateman Hospital in Huntington. Webster also approved a motion from Kanawha County Prosecutor Mark Plants recusing himself from the case. Plants lives two doors down from Bramble’s house.

The West Virginia Prosecutor’s Institute will approve a new prosecutor after receiving the judge’s order.
