Two dead in Jackson County accident

RIPLEY, W.Va. — State Police say a speed and alcohol-related traffic accident in Jackson County has claimed two lives.

The Tuesday night wreck happened along county Route 56 near Green Hills Country Club when driver, 47-year-old Brian Hunt of Sandyville, lost control of his truck. It went off the road and slammed into a tree.

Troopers said John Littell, 59, of Gandeeville, died at the scene of the 10:30 p.m. crash. A second passenger, 54-year-old Wanda Simmons of Leroy, died at Charleston Area Medical Center Wednesday morning.

Troopers are continuing their investigation and said criminal charges may be filed.
