Powerball shoots past $300 million mark

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Saturday night’s Powerball drawing will be worth an estimated $317 million, marking the second consecutive month the multi-state game has swelled to a large jackpot.

The Aug. 7 jackpot reached $448 million when three winning tickets matched all six numbers. Two of the winning tickets were purchased in New Jersey and the third in Minnesota.

The estimated cash value of the Saturday night $317 million jackpot is $176.3 million.

The Powerball lottery reaches 43 states, Washington, D.C., and the Virgin Islands. The odds of winning it all? About one in 175 million.
