CHARLESTON, W.Va. A second former University of Charleston basketball player and a third man have pleaded guilty to roles in a downtown Charleston robbery.

Former UC player Quincy Washington, 22, of Florence, S.C, pleaded guilty in court Friday to two counts of malicious wounding. Another suspect in the case, Terry Schmactenberger, 22, of Canton, Ohio, also pleaded guilty Friday to first-degree robbery.

Schmactenberger, Washington and former teammates Terrell Lee Lipkins, 20, and Robert Keith Dreher, 22, are charged in an attack and robbery of two men back in April at the intersection of Laidley Street and Virginia Street East.

Lipkins pleaded guilty to robbery earlier this week.

All three UC players were released from the basketball team after their arrests.

Washington is scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 29, with Schmactenberger to be sentenced the following day.

What is going on here? The prosecuter is recommending they be sent to Anthony youth center? They are in their 20's! And recommend one of them may be sentenced to probation since he wasn't the one hitting and kicking the victim?? These are street thugs that beat the crap out of people and robbed them. Give me a break, you give dui people prison time in regular prisons at 18 yrs old, which are non violent crimes. The court prosecuter ought to be ashamed and asked to step down, this is the most ridiculous thing I have heard. Yea give one of them probation, let all the other thugs in Charleston know that you can brutally rob someone and get off with nothing. They are adults and should be treated like adults.

The youth center is where they can make good and when or if they are sentenced there , they can do something positive and once release they can have a trade skill completed.

    Negativity??

  • Joe

Negativity?! What lesson do the beaten victims take from these thugs mistakes?!

    • Kimberly

In the video those victims were drinking as well and approach them.. If you don't know all the facts keep the smart comments to yourself . I was in the courtroom when the video played and I'm not black, and I don't know these kids..

Really you only have some of the story, one of the victims put their hands on them first and when the boys hit him then it got ugly.. I notice how one love to use the word THUG.. Why are they thugs b/c they got into a fight, they were just young men that people cheered on when they were on the basketball court... They realize what they have done and as they are sitting behind bars they know that they have done wrong.. For the ones thats making these negative comments, and name calling take a look at your life and report the wrong you have done.. No you may not have beaten someone but I'm pretty sure you have done something that you are not proud of...

  • Kimberly

No need for negativity.. Trouble is so easy to get into but so hard to get out of.. I think these young men have learned their lesson as they see their careers have drifted by for making the wrong choice.. I pray that others learn from these young men mistakes
