Middle school student arrested after gun found in locker

WHEELING, W.Va. — A Wheeling Middle School student is facing firearm charges after a gun was found in his locker.

Police said a school resource officer was notified by students and parents Friday afternoon that a student might have brought a gun to campus. The officer immediately began searching for the gun and authorities said within five minutes the weapon was located and the student responsible was taken into custody.

The student has been charged with possession of a firearm at a school. Police said the investigation continues.
