Dallas flight a success at Yeager Airport

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — One of the newest flights out of Charleston’s Yeager Airport is an instant success. The direct flight between Charleston and Dallas-Fort Worth has been incredibly popular after only three months of service.

“It’s been operating at what we call an 85 percent load factor,” said Airport Director of Marketing and Development Brian Belcher. “For a flight to just start up, that’s a very good number.”

Belcher said there are common links which are adding to the popularity of the direct link between West Virginia and Texas.

“The oil and gas industry is very strong in both areas.  The Boy Scouts are headquartered in the Dallas area and they’ve been using it,” Belcher said. “Plus when West Virginia played Oklahoma I saw a lot of Mountaineer fans at the airport and a lot of them were using that flight.”

Belcher said Dallas-Fort Worth is also a great connection for other flights, particularly for those looking to fly internationally or to make a jump to the West Coast.
