MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — From the very minute Edward Snowden leaked the Bo Pelini tape to Deadspin, some of our panelists who picked the Huskers to win last week recognized those blankety-blank words all too well.

This week’s selections are dedicated to Tom Osborne, a gentleman coach whose closest thing to a rant was saying: “My hardest job is to convince the people of Nebraska that 10-1 is not a losing season.”

On now to the picks, and a split decision regarding how West Virginia will fare in Baltimore:

Wasn't it the Twerps who gave Shawne Alston that deep thigh bruise last year? It hurt us to have only 1 back and A. Buie couldn't do it all. We owe 'em for that, and we're gonna get our pay back in this one. Solid run game with the 3 S's----Sims, Smith & Smallwood. We've got some guys who can stretch the field with KJ, Ronnie, IMac and White. I was really impressed with Ford's short game last week, he zipped it into some really tight spots, and not to mention the screens that Dana's bringin' to offset their blitzes. Kicking game much improved; 'Stash will flip the field a couple of times and we've got some blitzers of our own, too. 34-24 WVU.

  • big tom

not only hoppy, but vegas shows they think we're in over our heads.
I really think it will be close for awhile, but then they will stretch it out.
we are just too inexperienced on the off. to mount much of an attack against a fairly decent def. and give ford a break, this is his second college game. even geno had trouble when he was inexperienced,..
we just need time, and exp. and much much more talent..

  • Hop'sHip

That makes me feel better. With Hoppy picking the Terps, I feel like we have a chance. Just hope it doesn't rain because I understand terrapins like the water.

  • Steve From York

I'll be at the game (it's only 50 miles from York, PA.) Am hoping for a good showing of 'Eers fans! Coach Edsel is a York Co. native and I wish him well, except for this game. Let's go Mountaineers!!

  • William

    WVU by 7 points!

  • JS

    WVU 31 UMD 17

  • Travis Jones

Thanks Steve!! I won this thing last year...ive lost my touch apparently lol Should have retired on top

  • steve

If you are a Mountaineer fan and it's suppose to be close, don't you pick the 'eers? Thanks for the confidence from greg, travis, allan and garrett. IMPORTANT GAME! (you will get outta the cellar travis, although that indiana pick is suspect, hope you're right there, too)

  • Rick

Maryland seniors have never beaten a WVU team...WVU is in a rebuilding year...As much as I hate to say this, WVU coaching loses the game this time.

    • Jase

You could say that every year for the past seven years on one side of the ball or the other

  • Eer in Atlanta

the rest of the season will flow based on this game for WV.

If the Mountaineers lose, and 2-2 going into the toughest part of our schedule, will make for a long season.

  • 1olewvufan

This game will give the coaches, players and fans a better idea of what type of team WVU has and what to expect for the rest of the season.

If the players play to their abilities and show case their talents WVU could win this game big.

What I am referring to is players aren't dropping passes and making an effort to catch the bad passes, and even catching a few of the harder to catch passes.

  • tw eagle

I expect the Mounties to employ two running backs in most offensive sets . if smith and sims can adequately "slow" the rushers headed for Childress I see WVU scoring
31-35 points . . .if the D-line keeps up their
fabulous work clogging lanes and pressuring
the Qb I see the Mounties holding the turtles
to 14-17 points . . .the joker for me on the D side is Cook , if he plays well within the system WVU wins . . .if he decides to go head hunting and "playing his own game " there will be a lot of holes for the turtle recievers to take advantage of . . .

    • big tom

do you call allowing okla to rush for more than 300 yrs. CLOGGING,,,,LANES.....
MY god man, what if you thought we were bad on rush def. would they rush for 600?

      • tw eagle

big tom, we have a definite difference in perspective regarding the WVU football program. I feel the proverbial 'glass' of talent is 3/4 full and you seem to think that the 'glass' is not only empty but broken too. I'll not waste any more words, thought or energy trying to reason with someone trying to lay the
groundwork for replacing a coach and athletic director.

  • tony

4-4. cant get much tighter. all reasonable predictions. wouldn't it be great if we toasted em?

  • big tom

this is going to be a huge setback for wvu football, as the terps destroy our defense, and cruise to victory causing Dana to recondsider his qb... final: Maryland 35, wvu 10

    • dougie

Unfortunately I have to totally agree with you big T...

      • Jase

Your both retarded, if Oklahoma could barely manage a touchdown, there is no way in hell Maryland whips our d much less win. Wvu by 14, maybe more, receivers will not have drops this week

        • Gary

I agree with you Jase. WVU by 14 or more

  • Maxxajay

West Virginia will win this game by three it will be a hard battle ..good defense mountaineers victory

    • Big Larry

      Sorry Maxx...Aint happenin...

      Maryland 35 WVU 27
