Alleged serial bomb threat maker charged in Raleigh County

BECKLEY, W.Va. — An employee at Wood Forest Bank, located inside the Beckley Wal-Mart, was charged this weekend with making several bomb threats at the store this month.

Travis Lee Persinger, 26, of Fayetteville, was being held in the Southern Regional Jail Saturday on three charges for the false threats.  Beckley Police, though, claimed Persinger had made a total of five threats since Sept. 11 which prompted store evacuations each time.

Investigators said they think Persinger made the threats because he was “bored” and wanted to get out of work.

In addition to possible prison time for each of the three charges if convicted, Persinger could also be forced to pay fines and restitution to cover the store’s lost business following the threats.
