MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — A couple of Oklahoma State players majoring in clichés pledged to treat this weekend’s game at West Virginia “like a business trip.”

But have these guys ever been on an actual business trip? Where you step off the plane suddenly sensing you’ve landed in a new, magical city located just beyond the jurisdiction of common sense and HR guidelines, and the next 18 hours derails into a whirlwind of pubs and piano bars and guys in your group wearing neckties around their foreheads like Rambo (So we don’t get separated, duh!), and, because you’re not just another middle-management yahoo but more like an emissary sent from two time zones away to engage in world-changing talks over shots and local craft beers, each new establishment brings a life-defining conversation with some complete stranger—like solar panel sales reps who intermittently diss Chinese manufacturers and altostratus clouds, and waitresses who aren’t drop-dead gorgeous but definitely have “a certain quality” and somehow really “get you”—and through an exhaustive night of crushingly poor decisions you probably were too wise to make as 7-year-old but now can rationalize under the hyper-tolerant philosophy of “Hey, I can expense this!”, you return to your hotel with pockets full of crumpled receipts that will read like someone else’s diary tomorrow, and just when you’re finally intent upon getting two hours of replenishing sleep before your seminar convenes, some coworker drops the double-dog Mariano Rivera dare (“Be the closer!”), at which point you suavely hand your Visa card to a lady in the hotel lounge thinking it was your extra room key …

Is OSU talking about that kind of business trip? If so, WVU has a chance.

Its a good thing ObamaCare starts on Tuesday. WVU's football players are going to need it to get treatment for PTSD after the beatdown they get from OSU that comes their way Saturday. More deer in the headlights looks from the WVU players and coaching staff can be expected from this group. Holgorsen will look like his usual road-kill self after another thrashing. It will be a pretty early fall afternoon, but it certainly will not be pretty for Roadkill Holgorsen or his merry band of miscreants.
Would Holgorsen intentionally make the WVU offense so inept just to take his buddy Joe Deforest's misdeeds off of the sports pages??
    Correlation and causation.

    • wvrefugee

While I despise our football staff and AD, your comments seem like something one might watch on the X-Files!! Woohoo!

    • Big Larry

      FungoJoe,

I wonder if Holgorsen will even shave come Saturday?

He evidently forgot to shave Friday and Saturday and after the game he looked like a homeless drunk...

      Just sayin...

  • FungoJoe

    Gentlemen,
OSU will show WVU fans what a real Air Raid offense looks like YEAR IN AND YEAR OUT. Where are the bomb shelters located at in Mountaineer Field?? Next to the Ollie Beer gardens I would assume.
    OSU 52
    WVU 13.

    • WVBigb

FungoJoe, I guess you know all, oh wait WVU Won!

  • Medman

Show me a good loser and I will show you a loser.

  • leroy jethro gibbs

ok st 21 wvu 3 , defense holds them to 3 touchdowns

  • Don

wheres Tony's pick he would pick west virginia

  • big tom

but I do hope our fans are wild and crazy just like normal and the cowboys leave wondering how they could get their fans to be just as roudy as wvu's btw how do u spell roudy

  • big tom

I don't think we score more than 10 pts, and that's being optimistic ... now for okla state: 50 is a good round figure, but it could be worse. easily a lot worse. we stink, and screaming for the line to get better just isn't practical, or rational.
    Talent would help more.
we won't compete, and the game will essentially be over very very early.Okla st. will score their opening possession, and it's down bill after that
don't get mad about my thoughts, we are just not on their level.

  • Donna

Wow. You all have us scoring. Sounds like you have some confidence in the offense this week. I truly hope you're right. I love my gold & blue guys!! Let's GOOOOO, Mountaineers!!!

  • Devan

Dana goes down again. Will be 4-8 in his last 12 games. Huge wins agains Ga. Southern; Willliam and Mary; Iowa State and Kansas.

May be a good OC, but he is a joke of a head coach.

    Pokies 52
    WVU 6

    • Jase

Your not too bright, the offense is what is struggling not the defense so how does this make him a bad head coach, if he is a great oc of which he is? I expect too see a vast improvement in the team this weekend, win or lose

    • Harpers Ferry

Please don't EVER confuse a Southern Conference team (of which WVU used to be a member of) with the likes of Georgia State. Georgia Southern would roll over Georgia State, and probably WVU as well.

    • tw eagle

if coach Holgerson keeps the deck "stacked" in the hall of famers favor I see WVU losing every game to finish year ... even Kansas
and ISU aren't lowly enough to make the hall of famer look like a competent QB

  • Hillboy

That was the best more-than-200-words incomplete sentence that totally made sense that I've read so far today.

  • WVWho

Hard to believe more of the "experts" aren't giving LSU a shot. With an actual QB they are the team to beat in the SEC_ this game should go WVU's way.

    • Allan Taylor

Even those of us picking Georgia are giving LSU "a shot"—hence, the predicted scores are tight. I just go back to the way TCU put up points against LSU, and with Georgia having far better skill people, I like the Dawgs at home.

@Randy...LOL, I see what you did there.

  • Janem

@ Allan.. You surprise me when you chose Virginia Tech , they really don't have much this year you know that... They haven't beaten anybody Marshall gave them the game . Other than that I like your pics...good luck....

  • Janem

Big upset in Morgantown WVU knocks all the cowboys.... Remember don't burn any couches or chairs ....have a good day

    • FungoJoe

Couches and sofas throughout Sunnyside are safe as long as Roadkill Holgorsen is the head football coach.

  • zerotolerance

    Geniuses!

    • Allan Taylor

      Sarcasm noted.

      • zerotolerance

        +1 Sir!

      • Big Larry

        Allan,

You have WVU scoring 17 points?

        I don't think so...

        Oklahoma State 52 WVU 7

        • Allan Taylor

Big Larry, I've been wrong before.
