MetroNews Power Rankings: Week 6

The MetroNews high school football power rankings are voted upon weekly by a panel of radio broadcasters and sports writers across West Virginia. The rankings include season record, total points and first-place votes in parenthesis.

Class AAA

Notes: Martinsburg spent one week out of the top spot in these rankings. The Bulldogs reclaim No. 1 after knocking off Morgantown, 28-21. Undefeated Huntington, though, is right behind.

Notes: Huntington racked up 693 total yards in a 70-point win over Ripley. A big matchup is on the way this week against No. 4 Capital.

Notes: Morgantown had its chances against Martinsburg on the road, coming up seven points short. Chazzy Thomas had over 200 yards rushing and two touchdowns in the loss. The Mohigans drop to No. 3 this week as they have an out-of-state matchup against Dubois, Pa. coming up.
4 CAPITAL (4-0) 30

This week: at Huntington

Notes: The Cougars needed late-game dramatics to force overtime and ultimately knock off South Charleston last week. A lot of playoff bonus points will be on the line this week as Capital is on the road at 5-0 Huntington.

Notes: Bryce Ingram ran for over 200 yards and picked up three touchdowns in Wheeling Park’s win last week over Brooke. A matchup with East Liverpool is set for this week, prior to an October 11th matchup at Morgantown.

Notes: The revolving door at No. 5 in Class AA continues as Frankfort jumps into the No. 5 spot this week. The Falcons are off to an undefeated start and have an October 11th matchup against No. 3 Fairmont Senior on the way after this week’s game against Mountain Ridge (MD).
