Fire at Salem International University being called arson

SALEM, W.Va. — State fire officials believe a blaze that destroyed an abandoned dorm at Salem International University was arson.

Fire crews from across Harrison County responded to the fire at the Arch Moore Dorm early Monday morning.

The building has not been used for housing for quite some time. In fact, utilities have not been connected for several years. It was just being used for storage.

State Fire Marshals determined the fire was intentionally set in the center first floor apartment.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Arson Hotline at 1-800-233-FIRE (2353).
