Kanawha woman wanted for murder turns herself in

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Kanawha County woman wanted in connection with a man’s disappearance and murder turned herself in to sheriff’s deputies Saturday night.

Kelsey Legg, 20, of Marmet, was charged with murder Thursday after Kanawha County deputies and Charleston police detectives determined she lured Kareem Hunter, of Charleston, to her apartment on Sept. 23 so he could be kidnapped. Hunter had been reported missing.

Legg’s brother, Matt Legg, told police he heard a disturbance in his sister’s apartment and later saw two men putting Hunter’s body in the trunk of a car. The men have not been identified.

The criminal complaint said Legg’s apartment was cleaned, repainted and the carpet replaced after the murder. But it also said blood stains and splatters were found. Deputies said Saturday night they are looking for a man who was with Legg at Lowe’s on Sept. 25 purchasing a roll of carpet. They released several surveillance photos of the man.

Legg was arraigned late Saturday night in Kanawha County Magistrate’s Court. She’s being held without bail in the South Central Regional Jail.
