Accused Hampshire County residents due in court

ROMNEY, W.Va. — Three preliminary hearings are scheduled Monday afternoon in connection with a Hampshire County murder case.

Mandy O’Hara, 36, John Shoemaker, 21, and Gabriella Clutter, 21, all of Capon Bridge, are charged in the Sept. 26 death of O’Hara’s estranged husband Michael O’Hara.

Mandy O’Hara and Shoemaker allegedly broke into Michael O’Hara’s Slanesville area home, killed him, tied his body to a car and then dragged it to the Cacapon River. O’Hara and Shoemaker are charged with murder, Clutter with conspiracy. All three remain in jail.

Investigators said the O’Haras were involved in a custody battle over their five children.

A magistrate will decide if there’s enough evidence to forward the charges to a Hampshire County grand jury.

The preliminary hearings begin at 1:30 p.m. Monday.
