Logger killed in Tucker County

ST. GEORGE, W.Va. — A Lewis County man was killed on a logging site in Tucker County.

State Police say William Skinner, 59, of Horner, West Virginia was killed Tuesday afternoon while working at a logging site on Location Road in Tucker County eight miles from St. George. Skinner was the owner of Skinner Logging and had a crew working with him when the accident occurred.

“Mr. Skinner had a crew with him cutting a tree and at the same time he was cutting a separate tree,” said Corporal D.W. Berga of the West Virginia State Police. “The first tree turned as it was falling and came down on top of Mr. Skinner.  He never saw it coming.”

Skinner was killed instantly.

State Police say Skinner’s company was contracted by High Mountain Logging Company to do the work.  Investigators from OSHA and the U.S. Forest Service are involved in the accident investigation.
