LOST CREEK, W.Va. — Thousands came out Sunday afternoon to remember a South Harrison High School Football player.
Between 3,000 and 4,000 people packed into the stands at Gary Barnette Stadium in Lost Creek for the funeral service of 17-year-old Dylan Jeffries.
During a game against Lincoln School on September 27, Jeffries collapsed of a brain aneurism. He was airlifted to Ruby Memorial Hospital where he underwent emergency surgery to have a blood clot removed from his brain. He died nine days later.
Family members were expecting a large crowd for Sunday’s service because Jeffries, a high school senior, was a very popular student and outstanding player.
Visitation for Jeffries was held on Friday and Saturday. He will be buried during a private, family service Monday at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Mount Claire.
