Dialing the wrong phone number sends two men to jail

MINDEN, W.Va. — A phone call to the wrong person resulted in two Fayette County men being arrested on drug charges.

Officers from the Central West Virginia Drug Task Force were at the State Police detachment in Oak Hill when they received a phone call Thursday at around 8 p.m.

A trooper answered the phone. “West Virginia State Police, how may I help you?” To the trooper’s surprise, the man on the other end of the line asked if he would like to purchase prescription pills, then promptly gave the trooper directions to a home in Minden.

Police said they managed to resist the urge to laugh and headed out to the home on Thurbon Road in Minden where two undercover officers allegedly bought two hydrocodone pills.

Once the undercover officers left, troopers, Fayette County sheriff’s deputies and task force members obtained a search warrant for the home and allegedly found a bottle of hydrocodone pills and cash, police said.

Following the discovery, police arrested John Frederick Jarrell, 36, and Danny Lee Kincaid, 60, both of Minden.

Kincaid is charged with delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and conspiracy to commit a felony. Jarrell is charged with delivery of a controlled substance and conspiracy.

Both men are being held at the Southern Regional Jail.
