MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia received a 2014 commitment Friday night from outside linebacker Edward Muldrow of Copiah-Lincoln (Miss.) Community College.

Edward Muldrow (20), a South Carolina transfer, now plays at Copiah-Lincoln (Miss.) Community College.

Originally a three-star South Carolina signee in 2011 out of Snellville, Ga., the 6-foot-3, 215-pound Muldrow redshirted in his lone season with the Gamecocks before transferring to the junior college ranks last year. At Co-Lin he was a teammate of current West Virginia offensive lineman Stone Underwood.

Muldrow chose the Mountaineers over offers from Oregon, Tennessee, Arizona State, Kansas, Colorado and Iowa State. He anticipates enrolling at WVU in December with two years of eligibility remaining.

“Muldrow is an explosive athlete who has the skill set to play anywhere from rush linebacker to safety,” said Rivals writer Keenan Cummings of WVSports.com. “He will fit in with West Virginia at outside linebacker, where he can use his athleticism to get after the quarterback.”

Muldrow becomes the 14th commitment for the current signing class, the fourth on the defensive side and the second linebacker, joining four-star prospect Davonte James of Springfield, Ohio.

WVU's defense needs all the help it can get -- welcome aboard!

  • Larry Wiseman

Sounds good, but nothing personal, but I don't think that the jr. college ranks is the way to go when rebuilding a program to the level of the BIG 12 stature. I feel that we should always go after the top names and players! Surely we could get them by telling them that more than likely, if we get enough good players that we WILL start to win! Look at Geno, Tavon, and Stedman, they didn't play much the first year, if at all!! Look where they are now!!!! Also they will more than likely, be playing !!

Juco's are good to fill in gaps in recruiting but not to sustain a winning program. Only through great recruiting can holgersen win games and then he won't be despised for being an arrogant sob in WV. When players have 2-3 years of playing together they become like what Stewart recruited, Smith and Bailey...they worked like clockwork, because they played so long together. Although holgersen has only been here 3 years, all the players left are his. He's run off all the others, so it can only get better as it's as worse as I have seen in years.

its bad becuase wvu did not have #'s on defense due ot the previous staff not filling up all scholarships available to them for previous classes

the numbers on defense are low...this is why they have to recruit jucos

BTW--what players did Holgorsen run off?

As we get entrenched deeper and deeper as the perrenial doormat of the big 12 watch for some of the better recruits to start backing away and looking for a winning program. A really good player likes to win and its painfully obvious that wv is way out of its league.

    • GoEers

It's painfully obvious that you are a Marshall troll who is jealous of alll the recruits who are picking WVU over other BCS schools.

Big Larry I heard him say that "Black" was his favorite color and he loves Holgerson game day wardrobe. It was easier to see the coach.

    • Big Larry

      True...

Easier to see than Dark Green...

  • Ut Oh

To John C, my hat is off to you, great comment!

if he gets here in December, he'll be introduced to the work regimen expected
from all recruits . . .3 months in the weight program and he should be ready for spring
football . . .a likely replacement for Cook
if he hits and runs as well as advertised . . .
if he waits till spring to enroll , you pretty
much lose his first year of eligibility to
getting acclimated - if i'm in charge of
    recruiting , I don't bring Mulgrew after
December , sign another high schooler
into the class , he'll be ready to play just as soon as Mulgrew will be . . .

    Let's Gooo Mountaineeerrrsss ! ! !

  • john c

    that ur an idiot

  • Big Larry

He chose WVU over Oregon? What was he thinking?

    • GoEers

      to repeat what John C.said:

      that you're an idiot

to add to that, you are jealous Marshall troll

Let's go Mountaineers!! Great job of recruiting this month!!

  • Bobby M

    • Tom

Yep I'm so sure he'll read this and be so thankful you said that.... Moron.....

      • GoEers

What a sad human being you must be Tom.

      • Kevin

He could read it just as easily as you Tom! You know they make more computers than yours right? And people can actually buy said computers, take them home, get on these here internets and possibly read about themselves, especially if they are a college football recruit. Maybe, in this case, you are the moron Tom.
