Juco linebacker picks WVU over likes of Oregon, Tennessee

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — West Virginia received a 2014 commitment Friday night from outside linebacker Edward Muldrow of Copiah-Lincoln (Miss.) Community College.

Edward Muldrow (20), a South Carolina transfer, now plays at Copiah-Lincoln (Miss.) Community College.

Originally a three-star South Carolina signee in 2011 out of Snellville, Ga., the 6-foot-3, 215-pound Muldrow redshirted in his lone season with the Gamecocks before transferring to the junior college ranks last year. At Co-Lin he was a teammate of current West Virginia offensive lineman Stone Underwood.

Muldrow chose the Mountaineers over offers from Oregon, Tennessee, Arizona State, Kansas, Colorado and Iowa State. He anticipates enrolling at WVU in December with two years of eligibility remaining.

“Muldrow is an explosive athlete who has the skill set to play anywhere from rush linebacker to safety,” said Rivals writer Keenan Cummings of WVSports.com. “He will fit in with West Virginia at outside linebacker, where he can use his athleticism to get after the quarterback.”

Muldrow becomes the 14th commitment for the current signing class, the fourth on the defensive side and the second linebacker, joining four-star prospect Davonte James of Springfield, Ohio.
