Nude picture controversy at state psychiatric hospital

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — State Police areĀ investigating allegations made at the state-run Mildred Mitchell-Bateman Hospital in Huntington after nude photos of some patients were discovered.

Troopers said Friday say there could be some charges filed as early as next week. The state DHHR recently fired a 38-year-old man in connection with its investigation at the psychiatric hospital. The pictures involved mentally handicapped patients.

State DHHR Secretary Karen Bowling said the agency contacted police. The secretary said the protection of the hospital’s patients is a top priority.

State Police said the fired employee was not a doctor or a nurse.
